Discover ways with digital paint
Ways with painted transfers, and the latest edition of "Hear My Voice"
Oops. Created with Hear My Voice: Discovering
I found this photo in a box of old photos, and held it up to photograph with my phone. I actually liked the look of keeping my fingers in the shot, especially with the rich autumn colours that are in the new edition of the “Hear My Voice” project now at The Lilypad …”Hear My Voice: Discovering”
I remembered that the pic was taken on a short winter trip to a coastal town when I first experimented with ‘memory keeping’ - ie I took LOTS of photos with the idea of telling the story of the trip with them. That was no small endeavour when an impoverished student (with a love of thrift shop vintage) in an age when you had to pay for each photo ie buy the film and pay for it to be developed!
Here’s another I pulled out the box: my sister and frail little me at the beach.
You’ll see how I used my tried and true method of layering the photo and elements on top of painted transfers, and added some other small inked marks, doodles and word art as well (as well as my hand drawn doodled seedpod which you will see making an appearance on another of the pages below - see if you can spot it!)
The collection includes a lot of unique paint and other mixed media:
For the page above, I used one of the templates also included in the collection. I picked one of the solid backgrounds and used one of the transfers in the spot where you might otherwise place a photo.
And in the one below, the painted transfers span the whole of the page to create a rich background…
Here’s another two of my creations with the collection: one with an archive photo that I stumbled across of a very cool tram trundling along a street we used to live on, and another recent digital pic of a pair of special friends. They use two of the ‘ready-painted’ rich papers - but still have lots of the mixed media elements added behind and around the photos.
Here’s the full collection:
And you can find all the ‘Hear My Voice” editions in this collaborative project with Rachel Jefferies Designs here:
I’ll leave you with some more inspiration from Rachel, as well as Carrie and Kimberlee:
I hope you have a fun weekend, perhaps one that includes some time for crafting, or even just checking out the inspiration in the galleries at The Lilypad and Oscraps. :-) if the rain ever stops, I hope to get into the garden.
Love the theme and muted colors, ladies! Headed to get this one!
